How to adjust the backpack straps properly?

Learn How to adjust the backpack straps properly on Decathlon backpacks.

Adjusting your backpack strap properly is just as important as choosing the right backpack. So, follow the steps below to adjust the backpack to best fit your body.

1. Before adjusting: sling backpack over shoulder, loosen all straps

In this way, you can easily determine the comfort point without being affected by any factors before adjusting.

Tighten the front hip belt

2. Tighten the front hip belt

Place the hip belt on the lower abdomen and squeeze until it feels firm enough. If the hip belt is properly tightened and in the correct position, you will feel a significant reduction in the weight of the backpack on the shoulder area. This technique helps you stay strong when wearing a heavy backpack.

3. Adjusting the backpack strap

A common mistake when wearing a backpack is wearing the backpack as high as possible. Thus, the weight of the backpack will be placed entirely on the shoulder area without being distributed between the shoulders and hips.

Fasten the small straps on the shoulder straps

5. Fasten the small straps on the shoulder straps

These straps are also known as backpack straps. These straps help pull the backpack closer to the shoulder for greater comfort and stability.

6. Adjust and tighten the backpack chest belt

Be careful not to tighten the chest belt too tight as this will interfere with breathing. The purpose of the chest belt is to keep the backpack stable as you move. Depending on the backpack model, the height of the belt can be adjusted to free up the chest area and maximize comfort.
