Great value compared to big brands. Love the pit vents. I would be more than happy to pay extra for basic thumb loops and a small cord adjust in the hood, which is too big and flappy to be of any practical use when running.
I've been looking for a windproof to replace my big brand one I sold a while back but I wasn't prepared to spend the £60-£80 on a new one. This Helium windproof is not as full featured and well-designed as my far more expensive old one but to be frank, it really doesn't matter for what I use it for.
Windproofs are one of those bits of kit you don't know how useful they are until you get one. I go backpacking and when up on the hills, a windproof really comes in handy. Windchill is a massive factor in outdoors pursuits but waterproof shells, whilst being excellent wind-blockers, trap sweat and you get damping and steamy no matter how good your "breathable" fabric is. Windproofs are just finely woven polyester and so sweat can easily get through. So can rain so they do spray them with a water-repellent but this only holds off light showers for a short time - they are not waterproof. What they do well is to massively reduce windchill without adding insulation or sweatiness. If you wear one over a baselayer you can keep just warm without getting too hot and if you wear it over a fleece, the insulation value of the fleece improves dramatically. Overall, they allow you to ajust your temperature much better than the standard 3 layer system.
I don't need it to have a full mountain hood or adjustable cuffs etc - if the weather is getting that bad, it's waterproof time. So this one fits the bill. It's super light and packable. It will see off a short, light shower and does the job of stopping the wind just fine.
The downside is that it's not the toughest item around. The fabric is necessarily thin, the zip isn't robust and there are extra ventliation holes under the arms which, whilst welcome, are just punched through the fabric with no reinforcement. So it needs treating a bit carefully.
I'd definitely recommend this item.
very good for people
and my body
excellent value for money! super lightweight and packable this brilliant wind jacket protected me from the sun and wind during spring hikes in Greek mountain trails. The price is unbelievable as most big brand wind jackets i looked up online in this lightweight range were around 8 times the price of thid.. I'll get a second one!
This could be perfect, but it isnt.
my nearest decathlon is 170m round trip. As I know my sizes, I often buy mail order.
Pros: material, quality of manufacture, zips, armpit breathing, weight. almost everything.
Cons: stuff sack should be built in, the product is windproof, a small stuff sack on a windy day...probably going to get lost.
This is the second walking decathlon jacket I've had, the other a more substantial one. Both are very loose round the neck with way too large hoods. It's a windproof jacket! but won't windproof the neck, and a stiff wind will blow off the hood - elastic way way too loose. Many similar jackets have no hood, so it's better than nothing. If you don't need a hood, it's still great and cheap.
If I had tried this at the store, I wouldn't have bought it, but for this price, I decided to keep it and it works ok, with a buff type product on the neck to plug the gap it leaves.
excellent for protection from wind and rain in the summer
Product is good, but Zip Quality is not good.
I brought this jacket from Hennur road, Bangalore shop 4 months ago. This is the best jacket can use for bike riding for Summer season. Quality is awesome.
Lightweight yet breathable via small holes. Does not stick to the body due to sweat. Looks very nice. Most importantly - its very compact for storage. You can have it in your backpack & not remember.
It's very useful for runner for all season. Great stuff...
