Technical Information

1
Crosscontact sole
The design of the sole has been the subject of long research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. As the needs are not the same, we systematically seek the best compromise to walk on natural (forest path type) and mineral pathway furniture (coastal path type).
2
Our eco-design actions
For these NH500 2018 boots, we chose more environmentally-friendly components: - inside of the upper in recycled polyester (100%) - outsole in recycled rubber (30%)
3
Designed for use on natural trails
Our hiking boots are designed for use on natural trails. Indeed, we choose and test the components of the sole and the upper of our boots to best adapt to hiking on soft trails (forest paths made of earth) or mineral trails (rocky coastal footpaths). Road use (bitumen) can accelerate the wear of your boots and cause you discomfort. Not suitable for mountain hikes.
4
Laboratory test
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated ageing. These tests allow us to improve the quality of our products, and prevent premature wear of our hiking boots.
5
What is the origin of our leather?
We use a leather called "split velour". It has a fluffy, silky feel. The leather of this boot is of bovine origin. We do not kill animals to get this leather: we only use waste from the food industry.
6
How to look after leather hiking boots?
After your hikes, we advise you to: - Leave to dry away from any heat source - On fully dry leather, scrub vigorously with a stiff brush to remove mud and dirt - Use a crepe brush or nubuck gum to remove stains - For persistent stains, clean with a brush and some lukewarm water - Leave to dry - Brush again with a stiff brush - Use a waterproofing spray: this will give a shine to your leather and liven up its colour.
7
The boot/sock combination has an important role.
There are numerous causes of blisters when hiking: rubbing, a folded sock, moisture, size too small or too big... It is therefore important to choose the right size and a sock material adapted to your hiking boots.
8
How to choose the size of your hiking socks?
You need to choose a sock size adapted to your foot to avoid any extra folding of the sock: either because the sock is too big and so there is too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small and is pulled towards the inside of the boot.
9
How to choose the material of your hiking socks?
You need to manage humidity levels when out hiking: we perspire, it's often inevitable. If your boot is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration: so you have to choose a light and breathable sock as well If your boot is fairly waterproof, to protect you from the rain, you will not make the same choice: you need to choose a sock that will absorb your perspiration then move it away as much as possible from your foot.
10
Which pair of socks goes with the NH500 boot?
These boots offer a little breathability but not enough to wick away all the moisture in your perspiration. So you should go for NH500 low or mid socks: they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a terry construction under the sock that keeps moisture away from your foot. And they are high enough to protect your ankle from the boot. It is an excellent combination to reduce the appearance of blisters.

Awsome
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Good quality for an affordable product
Hiking Shoes
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Generally appear to be good quality and well made. Toe and heel rands give good protection and help keep wet out. Mid-sole is very soft and sole quite grippy. Insole is just a flat board, so longer-term comfort would benefit from something better being fitted.
A stylish and comfortable boot
Used for 7 to 12 months
Looks good, though after being worn in urban everyday situation approx 200 times the toes have holes in them. I bought same to replace, but I wish they were more durable!
Just superb!
Used for More than 1 year
Had these for 18 months now and worn them a lot for everyday wear and easy hikes. They jist get more comfortable every time I out them on and there is nothing negative to say about them. They are designed for light occasional hiking and they are perfect for that. Will be buying more as soon as these wear out. Highly recommended!
Good enough for walking in
Used for 1 week or less
This is a decent shoe, comfy enough to wear all day, walking across lightly rough terrain. Good flex in the sole. Surprisingly good shoe for less than £40!
Excellent Shoes for a great price.
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I buy these sorts of shoes on a regular basis and have paid a lot more for other brands. These are a third of the price and so far are excellent. If they last as long as previous more expensive shoes then they will be worth every penny. Thanks.
Nice shoe
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I'm taking on a 12 mile hike and wanted something a bit more robust than a trainer but not a full on walking boot. These shoes are canny. My only complaint is the sizes, I'm a size 10 but they only come in "half" sizes ie 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 etc. So being a size 10 the shoe is a fraction too long, but never the less still comfortable and easy to walk in.
I've only done a couple of 4 mile walks in them but had no sore areas so overall quite impressed.
Good shoes, light, robust, run a bit large
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I normally size up a size for walking and running shoes, but I shouldn't have with these. Not a disaster, but if you're after a walking shoe and think you may need to size up to avoid squeezing in a cushioned sock, you probably don't. They're lightweight, comfortable, they seem to be robust and they're a good price.
Excellent dude
Used for 7 to 12 months
Ideal approach shoes and for everyday use. Definitely buy again.
