Technical Information

1
Fill Power of the down/feather filling
For this down jacket filled 75/25, the inflating power of the down/feather is guaranteed to be greater than or equal to 540 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.
2
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling (for the back and front of the down jacket)
The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible
3
Feather origin
Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers, which are sourced in accordance with our commitments regarding responsible materials. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are bred for their meat and which are plucked after slaughtering.http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/
4
The advantages of a synthetic filling (for the arms, sides and hood)
The synthetic wadding is an good alternative to feathers: - it provides good thermal insulation even when wet - it provides some breathability and is recommended for sports activities (down is recommended for static or moderate activity)
5
Care instructions for a jacket filled with down and feathers
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our advice by clicking the link below: http://www.quechua.com/wash-your-down-jacket
6
In the event of rain
This down jacket fabric is water-repellent. It makes water droplets run off the surface of the fabric, so that it takes longer for the water to get inside the jacket, giving you time to find some shelter. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over your down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.
7
Note regarding the lighter coloured versions
The X-Light down jacket is made with a fine fabric in order to make it lightweight and compact. Please note that the feathers are slightly visible through the fabric of the lighter coloured jackets.
8
A score for comparing the environmental impact of the products
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing them with products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. Test
All our quilted jackets have been laboratory tested on thermal mannequins in 5 km/h winds, reproducing a hike with moderate exertion. This allows you to make the best choice by comparing the degree of thermal insulation on a scale of 1 to 5.

Product test
Thermal chamber test It allows us to check our design choices. We reproduce the temperature, wind and humidity conditions that you encounter in the mountains. In this way we can adapt our thermal insulation where you most need it. Feather impermeability test We use a test machine to ensure that the feathers do not escape from your jacket during your activities. Our fabrics are thus "featherproof" and so ensure lasting warmth.

Stockage tips
Keep on a hanger in a clean and dry place

Maintenance tips
Caring for down jackets requires special attention. We recommend using specialist dry cleaning services for the care of your down jacket. Washing: machine wash at 30°C, add 2 tennis balls to ventilate the down. Rinse twice. Tumble drying highly recommended: synthetic programme with three tennis balls to ventilate the down, put the jacket through several cycles until the down has dried completely, otherwise it may clump, losing insulating power. Excellent Jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks

Great Entry Level Down Jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Got this in the sale and would have paid full price for it. Just right to take the chill off the bones at night while sitting around a campsite. Packs down for the rucksack. Bought a Medium size but feels a size Small & 1/2
Fantastic cheap, effective lightweight down jacket
Used for More than 2 years
I bought one of these in France four years back and it has been worn out in Welsh hills, the high street, football terraces, wind blown freezing cold surfing beaches and around caving huts. It is lightweight, and warm in cold weather. I would recommend highly one of these jackets (a couple of pals have bought them on my recommendation). I like the jacket so much, I am going to order another one as they are so good. Order a size larger than your perceived size as they come up small.
Great at first sight, one dog later shredded!-
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Although snug this was light and warm and I loved the grey and orange colours. Then one enthusiastic dog later and it ripped like tissue paper. Hardly durable?
Response of the brand
Hello Darren, thank you for your review of the x-light down jacket. We are sorry to hear that your jacket has been destroyed but the jacket is designed to be durable within the limits of the activity (trekking) and will not withstand dog attacks.
Thanks

Size too small
Used for 1 week or less
On average sizes this was just a bit on the small size, had to return for a refund
Fantastic value jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought this for my son to complete a 64km Walk next month. It is fantastically light and warm. He likes it so much he is wearing it around town! Just be aware that they are really slim fitting. He is only 65kg and 15 years old but I had to get him a medium and that is pretty snug. I’d recommend trying one before buying or go up at least one size if buying on line.
Be careful washing...
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Up to the first was, i was a bit "meh" about this product. Very warm, too warm for high effort activity like mtb'ing where I was very sweaty. Pockets way too small. In one week I had numerous things (gloves, phone) fall out of the pocket (yes I should have closed the zip). Sizing very wacky, Im 173cm and 74kg and had to exchange medium for a large, and even that size is very tight. Just washed it and all the down filling has balled up. Again my mistake for not reading the washing instructions. It turns out you are supposed to put 2 tennis balls in the washing machine. Whoever heard of such wierd instructions. Ive had similar products from other manufacturers (Montane) and they have washed fine.
Response of the brand
Thanks for the feedback on the Quechua X-light down jacket and apologies for the inconvenience caused by the sizing. Regarding the washing; its a common instruction for down jackets which use natural down or feathers. Adding tennis balls or similar into the dryer stops the feathers from clumping together and helps to re ‘fluff’ the down. Should the down be synthetic then you tend to not require them as much. Thanks for getting in touch.
